FACE B
Calce, Roussillon
Domaine Face B was founded by Séverin Barioz in 2016 in the heart of Roussillon and is already making waves across the region. Originally from Lyon, Séverin spent eight years in Burgundy deepening his passion for viticulture and vinification. After a friend, Jean-Philippe Padié introduced him to the unique terroirs of Calce, he knew that this unique location was where he was meant to be. Comprised of rich landscapes, dynamic farmers and an undoubtable sense of place, Séverin immediately felt at home.
Séverin farms all four of Domaine Face B’s hectares organically and biodynamically, believing that this is the truest way of expressing regional terroir. His vines are rooted into schist, marl and limestone soils, most of which are dedicated to white grape varieties. High altitudes, cooling breezes and proximity to the Mediterranean Sea create an array of unique microclimates across Séverin’s small but rich holdings. In the cellar, Domaine Face B’s philosophy is simple: minimize the carbon footprint left on the planet while creating the most honest and terroir-driven wines possible. Each grape variety and soil type are fermented independently using only indigenous yeasts, in concrete vats for the reds followed by in maturation in wood, and in barrels for the whites.
