CHRISTOPHE PEYRUS
Cazevieille, Languedoc
Christophe Peyrus is no stranger to the terroirs of the Languedoc. Back in the early 1990s, Christophe took over his father’s vineyards at Clos Marie, located in the heart of Pic Saint- Loup and along with his partner Francoise Julien, the couple helped make Clos Marie one of the most recognized and esteemed names in all of the Languedoc.
In 2012, Christophe founded his namesake estate, Domaine Peyrus in Cazevieille, also located in Pic Saint-Loup. Here, Christophe organically farms six hectares of high-elevation vines. Above all, Domaine Peyrus is characterized by its unique combination of optimal exposure, high altitude, flinty limestone soils and geological origins. The famed outcrop of Pic (‘paleo cuesta’) was formed from the deformation of a southwestern plate, which simultaneously created complex and unique soils dominated by hard limestone and flint (silex).
